Ought to Thank Your Mama...

My Mother is my #1 shopping companion, and not just because when we shop together I pay a lot less. I've always been a big girl, and it's always been my Mother's mantra that I should were clothes that are flattering. I trust her opinion above all others. I try to find things that emphasis my waist, and minimize my ASSets. She will not hesitate to say, "Makes your butt look big." So just prior to my move I was trying to get a lot of professional pieces I could wear to school. I was Target with June, my number 2 shopping companion and there was a dress for sale for $9 dollars. I tried it on, determined it was cute and bought. I haven't worn it since. Upon reflection, and an unintentional channeling of my mother, I found myself thinking, 'Makes my butt look big.' As well as a concern that the print made me look like the entire amazonian rain forest. Today I decided to conquer my fear (and deal with my lack of clean laundry + rising temperatures).I'm back to my original verdict of cute. Especially since I got quite a few compliments on it.

Dilemma #2
The Blazer
I have a khaki linen Ann Taylor blazer, that I never know what to wear with. So I tried it with the dress today, and I'm not sure how I felt about it. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have other suggestions of how I should wear it.Unbuttoned

Buttoned, which in this picture looks weird. I think, maybe, because I was raising my arm to take the picture.

By the by, my Mom is totally justified in her comments.
'Cause, her 'Baby's got back'.

I'm a Stylish Teacher :)

So this is an outfit I wore on Monday. It's not dazzling, but I was going through my closet and I found these blue pants that I haven't worn in a long time. They're nothing to exciting, but they're kinda shinny and they still fit me from when I got them 4 years ago. Plus, I've been getting a lot of compliments on my outfits lately. One woman always comes up to me, "Oh Ashley, You always look so nice! Where do you shop?" So now that I'm considered the stylish one at work, the pressure is on for me to keep up this title.

Pants: Old Navy

Shirt: H&M

Cardigan: Marshalls

Circa 2005

I ust found these on Sean's camera and it felt like finding a ten dollar bill in my pocket. What was I thinking? I don't know, but I did meet Sean around this time so I can't have been all crazy, despite the photographic evidence.

P.S. I'd like to say R.I.P. to these jeans, my most favorite ever, who died a grisly death by excessive tearing.

New School, New Outfit!

So this is an outfit I wore during my first week at Pine Bush Middle School, in Bullville. It's the complete opposite of Newburgh. The school is out in the middle of no where, and instead of dealing with horny high schoolers, I'm dealing with pubescent seventh graders. I'm not sure which I like better.

Anywho, on to the outfit... The skirt is actually a hand-me-down from my mom. I wore it once for a rowing banquet in the Spring, and I really liked it. She gave it to me this past summer when she was cleaning her closet. It's weird, I never thought I'd be wearing the same clothes as my mom. Although you can't tell in the picture, it's got two high slits going up the side. The white shirt is from Target. I got it on clearance over the summer. The black cardigan is Mrs. Campo's. She let me borrow it in high school for the Mozart Symphony and I forgot to give it back to her. Either she doesn't realize I still have it, or she's come to terms with the fact that she's never getting it back.

I think this outfit makes me look like a real teacher. And yes, I'm totally aware that two of these articles of clothing are from my mothers. Either they're very trendy, or I dress like an old woman now...

Spring break!

So while this should really go on snugglebunny, I have no way to post there so we are going to diverge from our usual closet connection and talk about June's son. So as most of you know, Tierney and I were home on spring break last week and we hung out with June, Sean, Aiden, Cathy, etc. at Rosendale. I had a great time, maybe more fun than Aiden! So, I didn't know where else to post this and I didn't want facebook to attack this video so I thought this would be better. Also, I have been a failure at adding photos to here recently. When I get a chance I'll make my roommate take a photo of my new earring so you guys can check that out! And when I'm not so stressed and may have time to dry my hair after a shower, I'll look cute for a day and let you all see a spring outfit that I have.

Easter

Dress: Target, on crazy clearance
Shoes: thrifted
Cardigan: Online
Necklace: gift from my mom, from Newport R.I.

I was so excited that it was warm enough to wear this. I originally had brown tights and boots because usually it's practically snowing on Easter. I had already gotten a little tan from the previous few days of crazy warm temperatures so I braved sandals and bare legs, and it was worth it.
